1st days at Formula Student at Silverstone
Friday, 17 July 2009 05:56

First European event this year started. Lets see what most of the teams designed and built in the last month!

From Wednesday on teams could stay at the campground. Teams which arrives at Thuesday had to go to another campsite about 5 miles away for one night.

It was great teams could in the pits at Wednesday too, very relaxed atmosphere. Lots of awsome cars at the competition and good weather!

As I was coming to the pit area Thursday morning at about 6:00, some teams got there cars before scruteneering. Remember it should begin at 10:00!

When it started about half all competitors were in line. It took almost 3hours for most of the teams getting through safety and tech. First Teams were UAS Graz and Freiberg.

Fuel, Tilt Table, Noise and Brake test followed.

As I saw only 2 teams(UAS Graz, Amberg) used the chance on the testing area.

At afternoon Ross Brawn, Pat Symonds and Damon Hill visits the competition and talk to some teams.

About 6:45pm all inspection were stopped. Teams must come back next day.

88 slots booked for Formula Student 2009
Wednesday, 21 January 2009 14:35

17 nations registered for Formula StudentTeams from 17 nations registered successfully for the Formula Student 2009 competition in July.

For 13 teams this will be the first participation at the UK event. With Stuttgart, Delft and TU Graz 3 of the Top 10 world ranking teams will come to Silverstone.

There were no run like the FSG registration. Fiona Edgeler(FS) says it took about 2hours all available places were assigned. Contrary to coming up rumours, there were no agreements with the FSG organisers for teams on their waiting list.

Unfortunately, the 88 places were not enough. 15 teams got no slot.

In the next few month, the team members will spent a lot of their time in the shops to finish the racecars in time for the first European event in 2009.
